Palmistry

Palmistry - also known as Chiromancy - is a popular practice among various cultures all over the world. Palmistry with the meaning of palm reading or hand prediction is to learn a person’s personalities, fortune and future by analyzing his/her hands. In fact, palmistry not only refers to the reading of one’s hand or palm, it also includes the reading of arm, finger and fingernail. By reading one’s palm lines, hand shape and size, finger length and flexibility, fingernail…, a good palmist will be able to describe clear facts regarding your past, present, marriage, character traits, health, wealth, wisdom, career, marriage impending dangers and much more. Those who practice chiromancy are generally called palmists, palm readers, hand readers, hand analysts, or chirologists.

History of Palmistry

Palmistry has been of great interest for humans since the stone age. Notable people such as Paracelsus (1493-1541), Fludd (1574-1637) and Cheiro(1866-1936) brought respectability to palmistry through their writings. According to historians the science of palmistry originated in India. The ancient scripts in the Puranas state that the sage Narada was one of the first practitioners of this interesting art. Several monuments erected during the prehistoric times of the Aryan civilization bear evidence that the people of this period were knowledgeable of palmistry and often practiced it.

The practice of palmistry was propagated by Hindu sages like Gautama, Agastya, Kashyapa and Atri. In fact, palmistry was studied in such great depth that Maharshi Valmiki went on to compose a writing that is now known as 'The Teachings of Valmiki Maharshi on Male Palmistry'.From India, the knowledge of palmistry slowly spread to Tibet, China, Persia, Egypt and to some countries in Europe.

Which Hand to Read?

In palmistry both hands are important for her or him. Left hand carries gifted qualities, inherited from parents, shows your inborn tendencies and abilities and right handshows your developed tendencies and abilities. In case if someone left hander it can be vice versa. There are different opinions among palmists. Some palmists think the right for female and left for male. As a matter of fact, both of your hands play great importance in hand reading. But one is dominant and the other is passive. The left hand usually represents what you were born with physically and materially and the right hand represents what you become after grown up. So,the right hand is dominant in palm reading and the left for supplement.
