27 Nakshatras in Vedic Astrology

The Zodiac according to Indian Astrology the whole astrological cycle is 360 degrees i. e. 12 signs(rashi)=360 degrees and 1 sign(rashi) is 30 degree and there are 27 Nakshatras or Constellations it it. Each Nakshatras occupies 13o20’ of the 360o circle of constellations which is the span of one Nakshartra and in this way 13o20’ x 27=360o which is the entire Zodiac. Further each Nakshatra is divided into 4 quarters or padas or also known as charan. Each pada=3o20’;so 3o20’ x 4=13o20’;4 padas x 27 Nakshatras=108 padas in 360o. The 27 Nakshatras, each with 4 pada, give 108 which is the number of beads in a Japa Mala, indication all the elements(ansh) of Vishu.
